Arabesque, in literature, refers to an interlacing or intricate design. In ballet, an Arabesque is a movement/position in which a dancer stands on one leg and extends the other behind them. Both Mark’s son and daughter were dancers and you can see the inspiration he gleaned from them in this kinetic wind sculpture. The top is meant to mimic the look and shape of a tutu and these elongated limbs have a very artistic, aesthetic appeal, as do long limbs on dancers.
