Artist Demonstration from 1:00 – 4:00 pm Thursday, February 8th and Friday, February 9th
Pattie Parkhurst is a nationally recognized artist with a love of forming metal using anticlastic raising techniques. This approach creates beautifully curved shapes, sinuous but strong. The basic anticlastic shape is metal that has been moved in opposite directions; think of a saddle.
Using a variety of metals and gems, Pattie combines her love for nature and metalsmithing into cohesive nature-inspired designs. Every piece of jewelry requires anywhere from 1,000 to 10,000 hammer strokes to create the graceful anticlastic curves.
Her facility with this technique and her desire to push her art beyond what is normally expected of this type of metal raising has created a unique voice in metalsmithing that is instantly recognizable. Free Event.
